The Feuerstein Method is a unique educational technique developed by world-renowned psychologist Reuven Feuerstein. It is a process-based approach, focusing on developing the vitally important, and often overlooked, the skill of learning how to learn, subsequently tapping into an individual’s latent intellectual capabilities.
The Feuerstein Method is based on Feuerstein’s theory of Structural Cognitive Modifiability (SCM). The theory suggests that in order to create a systemic change, the individual requires intervention via human mediation; a fundamental shift in how the learner is taught to process and interact with information across all aspects of their lives. This process is called the Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) and is implemented through two applied systems: the Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD) and Instrumental Enrichment (FIE). Together, these systems seek to assess, intervene and develop the learner’s skills.
Day 1
On the first day of the program, participants will have the opportunity to meet and greet the presenter and fellow attendees. They will receive a comprehensive introduction to the Feuerstein method, including its history and research. This day will provide an excellent foundation for participants to understand the methodology and the goals of the program.
Day 2
On the second day of the program, participants have the opportunity to delve deeper into the concepts and principles that underpin the methodology. This will include reviewing the worksheets and gaining a more comprehensive understanding of how all the ideas and concepts work together.
Day 3
As we move into Day 3, we already have the foundation, now we move to the next level. This means actively engaging with the worksheets, and collaborating with others to review them. Gaining valuable insights and perspectives, and identifying areas where we can improve our approach. This collaborative review process, refines our strategies and making better decisions.
Day 4
As we progress, the work is becoming clearer, and the techniques are starting to make sense. We continue to refine our approach through correction and group discussion. We are also generating new ideas to ensure that we are approaching the work from every possible angle. Finishing up all the worksheets is a critical part of this stage, as it helps us consolidate our learning. Through these efforts, we are moving forward with confidence towards completion.
Day 5
As we approach the end of the course, it's time to complete our journey and have our work reviewed. We will reflect on our progress, celebrate our achievements, and address any remaining challenges. With the course work complete and reviewed, we can look back with pride and satisfaction, knowing that we have made significant progress in our ability to learn and teach thinking better.
